Nature Connection with Rebecca: Letters of Wonder from My Ecosystem to Yours π September 20, 02026 Dear friends, I have decided to teach a "Pop-up" (e.g., last-minute) class tomorrow on "How to Be a Nature Storycatcher." It will be on Zoom, and I am offering this free for the community: βhttps://us06web.zoom.us/meeting/register/brVCflN7QDKEUKpmtFceZA#/registration Storytelling is the most foundational core routine of all the core routines of nature connection. How do we catch the stories of what we notice happening in nature around us? And how do we as humans catch each others' stories in a way that makes us feel seen, heard, and connected? β In this session, we'll do both! I believe that this is how we can rebuild a culture of nature connection, build community around it, and heal the Earth. All you need to bring is a recent nature experience you'd like to share verbally. It can be something small, something you might not even think of as a "story"; through your telling, the story structure will emerge. Telling the story is what allows you to process that experience more fully and feel more connected to that part of nature you were interacting with. If the experience is something you've recorded in your nature journal, you are welcome to bring your journal to share, too. But it is not necessary. I've started to think of nature journaling as just another format of nature storycatching. I think it can be most powerful to do nature journaling (process by yourself) and then tell the story with other people (process with others). We'll take turns sharing our stories, and we'll all practice ways of being a more active listener to fully catch the stories that everyone else tells and create a space where everyone feels held and supported. People have been doing this for thousands and thousands of years. In our modern world where it can seem like everything is sad, chaotic, and lonely, let's create more ways to gather and be humans human-ing together. :) I've taught this class in the past, and participants have described it as "magical." Hope to see you there :) "How to be a Nature Storycatcher" September 21 2026, 12pm Eastern Time (NY) (It may last an hour or up to two depending on how many people come.) Nature Connection with Rebecca: Letters of Wonder from My Ecosystem to Yours π October 18, 02026 π First-quarter Moon Dear friends, Here's one specific way that connecting to nature can also help you connect better to other people. (You can also click here to watch the video version of this letter). One exercise you can do to help you deepen your sensory experience of nature is a Sense Meditation. When you go outside, listen towards your left. Listen towards your right. Listen to the quietest...
Nature Connection with Rebecca: Letters of Wonder from My Ecosystem to Yours π October 10, 02026 π New Moon Dear friends, Today I have a Book Review to share with you. Lonesome for Wilderness: Tracking and Trailing in Forest, Desert, or Your Own Back Yard by Linda Jo Hunter A while ago I got curious about animal tracking, so I ordered a bunch of books on the topic from the library. Most of them were field guides, stuffed full of technical information and images of tracks, sorted by species....
Nature Connection with Rebecca: Letters of Wonder from My Ecosystem to Yours π October 3, 02026 πLast Quarter Moon Dear friends, For a while now, I've been really into Nature Journaling with pen. Unlike with pencil, of course, you can't erase. I think this helps me to be a little looser with my sketches and less perfectionist. But... sketches are still a way of recording information. What do you do if you make a "mistake" and the drawing (and therefore, the information) is inaccurate? It's OK...
